Protective Actions Taken

COVID-19 Community Update:

The Volusia County Positivity rate for March 21 to March 27, 2021 is 9.76%

  • Testing at Majestic Oaks is once per week
  • We have 0 residents positive for COVID-19 in isolation
  • We have 0 residents that are hospitalized related to COVID-19
  • We currently have 1 resident potentially exposed to COVID-19
  • We have had 0 residents pass away due to COVID-19 since our last update
  • We currently have 4 employees that have tested positive
  • We currently have 0 employees potentially exposed to COVID-19 on leave

Please continue to protect yourself and others by avoiding close contact with people who are sick, wash your hands frequently with soap and water, clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces using regular household cleaning spray or disinfecting wipe and wear your mask when in public areas around other people.

Travel Precautions:

Travel increases your chances of spreading and getting COVID-19. The CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated.  If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, follow CDC’s recommendations for unvaccinated people.

Updated Information for Travelers:

  • Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread COVID-19.
  • People who are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine can travel safely within the United States:
    • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it
    • Fully vaccinated travelers do not need to self-quarantine
  • Fully vaccinated travelers should still follow CDC’s recommendations for traveling safely including:
    • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth
    • Stay 6 feet from others and avoid crowds
    • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer

If you are fully vaccinated or have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 3 months, you do NOT need to get tested or self-quarantine. You should still follow all other travel recommendations.

If you are NOT fully vaccinated and must travel, take the following steps to protect yourself and others from COVID-19:

  • Before you travel:
    • Get tested with a viral test 1-3 days before your trip.
  • While you are traveling:
    • Wear a mask over your nose and mouth. Masks are required on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
    • Avoid crowds and stay at least 6 feet/2 meters (about 2 arm lengths) from anyone who is not traveling with you.
    • Wash your hands often or use hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol).
  • After you travel:
    • Get tested with a viral test 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for a full 7 days after travel.
      • Even if you test negative, stay home and self-quarantine for the full 7 days.
      • If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected.
    • If you don’t get tested, stay home and self-quarantine for 10 days after travel.
    • Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not.
    • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.
    • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.

Do NOT travel if you were exposed to COVID-19, you are sick, you test positive for COVID-19, or you are waiting for results of a COVID-19 test.

Quarantine/Self Isolation

Vaccinated residents:

  • If you have been around someone who has COVID-19, you will need to be quarantined if you are exhibiting symptoms.
  • Approval must be received to be removed from quarantine/isolation
  • Avoid indoor common areas including but not limited to dining rooms, resident events, library, etc if you have had an exposure to COVID-19.

Unvaccinated residents:

  • When you test positive for COVID-19 – immediate isolation for 10 days or 10 days from symptom onset and 24 hours without fever reducing medication(*)
  • *Severe case require 20 days of isolation   
  • You have had exposure to someone who has tested positive – Immediate quarantine for 14 days – You cannot test out per CDC guidelines
  • You have had exposure to someone who has had exposure to someone who had tested positive – Use extreme caution and monitor yourself for any signs or symptoms.

Access to Common Areas and Visitation

Vaccinated residents:

  • Visitation
    • Resident Homes – residents will be able to socialize in one another’s home if both residents are fully vaccinated.
    • Unvaccinated home visitation is not recommended at this time.
  • Dining – residents will be able to eat in the dining room at the same table as other fully vaccinated residents.
  • Residents’ Groups/Events – May participate in events with other vaccinated residents. 
  • Fitness Center – May utilize the fitness center and continue to follow policy of the fitness center
  • Off Site Programming – may participate in offsite events while utilizing caution.
  • Must continue to follow policy and wear a mask when moving through the community.

Unvaccinated residents:

  • Visitation
    • Resident Homes – may have visitors in their home.  Do not recommended visitation with vaccinated residents in a closed environment. 
  • Dining – May utilize the dining room.  Should not dine with vaccinated residents.
  • Residents’ Groups/Events – Do not recommend participation in resident     programs & events at this time. 
  • Fitness Center – Please contact Talina for information
  • Off Site Programming – may participate in offsite events while using caution.
  • Must continue to follow policy and wear a mask when moving through the community.  

Visitation Guidelines and Responsibilities

  • All visitors must complete screening at gatehouse
  • Recommendation is visitation be limited to two (2) guests at a time and can occur between 9 am-9 pm, daily
  • Residents are responsible to clean and disinfect visiting areas between guests
  • Visits are encouraged to occur outdoors on porches or patios as weather permits
  • Maintain social distancing of 6 feet between each person
  • No guests will be allowed in campus common areas or dining venues
  • No overnight guests
  • Please let security know the names of the people that will be visiting you by calling security or completing the visitation form on the resident portal.
  • All visitors must immediately inform JKV if they develop a fever or symptoms consistent with COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19 within fourteen (14) days of a visit
  • Visits are limited only to a resident’s home
  • Wear a mask and perform proper hand hygiene
  • Participate in COVID-19 education link provided

Village Update:

The Dining Credit has been extended through April 30 for residents that choose to not use their dining accounts in a 30 day consecutive period.

When attending events and activities, residents must continue to follow the JKV policy of wearing a mask, socially distancing/spacing and frequent hand washing. Group gatherings should be limited to 40 people maximum. Capacity at events is based on event location and whether it is being held indoors or outdoors.

It is critical, if you are not feeling well for any reason, or if you suspect that you have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 to please contact the resident nurse immediately at extension 1407, the gatehouse, or use your pull cord.
