Arts & Entertainment

You could get used to this kind of fun.

A cruise ship that doesn’t leave port. A luxury resort you live in year-round.

We’ve heard those and other comparisons when people talk about our amenities. But when you look at everything going on every day and night around John Knox Village, cruise ships and resorts just can’t compare.

Our Arts and Entertainment Center is the center of our campus — literally and figuratively. Step inside anytime and you might come across a watercolor class in our studio, contract bridge or poker games in our card room, a friendly billiards competition, even square dancing on the large wooden dance floor.

If the outdoors is more to your liking, we give you lots of excuses to get out and enjoy sunny Florida days. Work on your short game on our 8-hole putting green or your drive in our golf practice nets. Cast a lure into one our lakes, where residents regularly pull out good-sized largemouth bass. Call your friends living up north and brag about the weather from your poolside chair; our pool is even screened-in to keep the bugs at bay.

What else is there to do? Here’s just a short list:

Stay active with Wii bowling, walking, table tennis, aqua fitness classes, pool aerobics, Muscles & Motion exercises, neck and back exercises, line dancing, ballroom dancing, Tai Chi.

Stay involved with Red Hat Society, ROMEO Club, Saturday Morning Coffee Social, stage producing and acting groups, and volunteering opportunities around campus.

Stay engaged with brain fitness and computer lab courses, book clubs, Stetson University Road Scholar Program, visiting professors’ lectures, book reviews with authors, historical studies and medical guest speakers.

Stay connected with spiritual programs including vespers, vespers choir, men’s chorus and various support groups.

This is just a sampling. If you don’t see your favorite thing on this list, we encourage you to bring it with you to campus. Most of our activities, clubs and groups are resident-started and resident-led.
